German New Medicine (GNM)
Summary of GNM
Purpose:
- To decode the disease’s “biological meaning” by identifying the specific trauma (DHS) that started the process. The goal is to resolve the conflict so the body can end its emergency program naturally.
Content:
- No physical treatment in the traditional sense (no chemo, radiation, or medication). Focus is on precise diagnosis via brain CT scans to locate the “Hamer Focus” and then conflict resolution (talk therapy or changing life circumstances).
The Central Idea:
- Disease is not a flaw in nature, but a biological special program (SBS). Every form of cancer is directly controlled from a specific location in the brain and behaves predictably based on which of the three germ layers (embryonic tissue) the organ originates from.
Who was Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer

Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer was a German internist, oncologist, and inventor. His life’s work arose from a personal tragedy in 1978, when his son, Dirk, was shot and died after a long illness. Shortly afterward, Dr. Hamer himself developed testicular cancer.
He rejected that it was a coincidence. Through his work as a senior physician at a cancer clinic in Munich, he began systematically interviewing patients. He found that all without exception had experienced a dramatic, isolating shock prior to the diagnosis. He systematized these discoveries into what he called the “Iron Rule of Cancer”. [1]
He lost his medical license in 1986 when he refused to renounce his theories and later spent time in prison for practicing without a license.
The 5 Biological Laws

The foundation of GNM is five laws that, according to Hamer, apply to all medicine—not just cancer, but also allergies, psychoses, and chronic disorders. [6]
1. The Iron Rule (the biological shock / DHS)
Disease arises at the precise second an individual is struck by a DHS (Dirk Hamer Syndrome). A DHS is defined as an acute, dramatic, and isolating conflict shock that catches the person off guard. It is not prolonged stress that makes you sick, but the unexpected shock. [5]
At the moment the shock hits, a synchronous impact occurs on three levels:
- Psyche: You obsessively think about the problem.
- Brain: A measurable short circuit occurs in a specific brain center (visible on CT scan as ring-shaped structures).
- Organ: The corresponding organ starts its emergency program (e.g., cell growth).
2. The Law of Two Phases
No disease is static; it always progresses in two phases (if the conflict is resolved).
The Cold Phase (Conflict-Active):
- Immediately after the shock, you are in constant stress (sympathicotonia). You have cold hands, no appetite, sleep poorly, and constantly think about the conflict. This is where tumors in the “old brain” grow.
The Warm Phase (Healing):
- When the conflict is resolved (CL), the body switches to vagotonia. You become tired, get fever, warm skin, and pain. This is where the body breaks down the tumor or rebuilds tissue.
- Many symptoms that we call “disease” (e.g., flu, arthritis, leukemia) are, according to GNM, actually the healing phase.
3. The Ontogenetic System (Germ Layers)
This is the technical key to understanding why some cancers cause lumps while others cause holes/wounds. Hamer divided the brain and organs according to their evolutionary origin (the embryo’s three germ layers) [2]:
Inner Germ Layer (Endoderm) controlled from the brainstem:
These are the oldest organs (lungs, stomach, intestines, liver).
- Reaction during conflict: The cells divide and form a tumor to increase the function (e.g., more lung tissue to absorb oxygen).
- Reaction during healing: The tumor is broken down by fungi/bacteria (e.g., tuberculosis).
Outer Germ Layer (Ectoderm) controlled from the cerebrum:
These are newer tissues (skin, milk ducts, cervix, bronchi).
- Reaction during conflict: The cells disappear (ulceration/wounds) to make the passage larger.
- Reaction during healing: The tissue is rebuilt with great swelling and cell division. This is often misdiagnosed as cancer, even though it is a reconstruction.
4. The Law of Microbes
Unlike Pasteur, who defined microbes as enemies, GNM sees them as indispensable helpers. They are not the cause of disease but optimize the healing process. They work exclusively on command from the brain and follow a strict logic based on the germ layers:
Fungi and Mycobacteria (e.g., Tuberculosis):
- These are the oldest microbes. They only work on tissues controlled from the old brain (brainstem/cerebellum). Their task is to break down the tumor during the healing phase. If you have a lung tumor (old brain), the tuberculosis bacteria will “eat” it away and leave a cavity when the conflict is resolved. If you remove the bacteria with antibiotics, the tumor cannot be broken down naturally but remains encapsulated.
Bacteria:
- Work on all tissue types, but primarily to rebuild tissue in the middle germ layer.
Viruses (or what we call viruses):
- According to GNM, these protein structures are necessary for rebuilding tissue controlled from the new brain (cerebral cortex), e.g., during healing of wounds in the milk ducts or bronchi. Without these “viruses,” the wounds heal more slowly.
5. The Quintessence (The Biological Meaning)
This law ties it all together. Disease is not a “mistake” or a “punishment,” but nature’s common sense. Every physical change has an evolutionary purpose.
Example:
- A wolf swallows a bone that gets stuck in the intestine (a “digestive conflict”). Instantly, the body starts a “tumor growth” in the intestine.
- This is not cancer in a negative sense, but a biological necessity to produce huge amounts of digestive acids so the bone can be broken down.
- When the bone passes, the tumor is no longer necessary, and it is broken down (by microbes).
Transferred to humans:
- When we get a diagnosis, we should ask: “What is my body trying to achieve?”
- If we get lung cancer (more cells), it’s because, biologically speaking, the body is trying to help us “catch more air” in a situation of death anxiety.
Diseases and Their Conflict Content

In GNM, the location of cancer is never random. It depends on the individual’s subjective experience of the shock. [7]
Breast Cancer (Two Different Types)
Doctors rarely look at the exact tumor location, but GNM distinguishes sharply based on tissue type:
- Glandular Cancer (Lobular): Controlled by the cerebellum. The conflict is a “nest worry” (child, partner, home is in danger). Biological meaning: Create more glandular tissue to be able to give more milk/nourishment to the one in need.
- Milk Duct Cancer (Ductal): Controlled by the cerebral cortex. The conflict is a “separation conflict” (torn away from someone). In the active phase, sores appear in the ducts (numbness). In the healing phase, it swells up and becomes red/warm—this is where the diagnosis is most often made.
Lung Cancer (Alveoli)
Controlled by the brainstem.
- Conflict: Death anxiety. The fear of not being able to breathe or of dying.
- Process: The body immediately forms more lung cells (tumor) to increase oxygen absorption. As long as the anxiety persists, the tumor grows. When the anxiety subsides, the growth stops, and the tumor is encapsulated or broken down (if you have TB bacteria).
Prostate Cancer
Controlled by the brainstem.
- Conflict: A “dirty genital conflict” or a reproduction conflict. It can be an older man who feels discarded as a man, or problems with inheritance/children.
- Biological meaning: To increase the amount of prostate fluid to increase the chance of fertilization. The growth stops when the conflict is resolved.
Bones and Lymph (Leukemia/Osteosarcoma)
Controlled by the marrow in the cerebrum (mesoderm).
- Conflict: Self-worth conflict. “I’m not good enough,” “I didn’t manage it.”
- Active phase: Bone tissue breaks down (holes/osteoporosis). You feel nothing.
- Healing phase: When self-worth returns, the bone is rebuilt violently. The periosteum stretches (pain), and the body produces huge amounts of immature blood cells to support the construction. This is diagnosed as leukemia, but in GNM it is seen as the healing phase that one simply must survive.
Diagnosis and Therapy in Practice

Since there are no official GNM clinics (as practitioners often lose their licenses), the patient must be their own detective. [11]
The method requires radical honesty with oneself.
Diagnosis: Find the Trail (DHS)
The diagnosis is not about “what” is wrong, but “why.”
The Time Point:
- Go back in time. When did the first symptoms start? Rewind 4-6 weeks before this. This is where your DHS (shock) lies.
Identification of the Feeling:
- Use the organ charts.
- Do you have bone cancer? Then you MUST look for an experience where you felt completely worthless or broken (“I’m not good enough”).
- Do you have liver cancer? Look for a situation where you feared for your financial existence (“starvation conflict”).
The Tracks:
- This is crucial. At the moment the shock hit, your brain stored all sensory impressions (sounds, smells, people, season). These are called “tracks.” If you encounter these again, the conflict can flare up again (recidivism). You must identify these triggers to avoid relapse.
Therapy: Conflict Resolution (CL)
The goal is to achieve Conflict Resolution (CL)—i.e., the resolution of the conflict. There are two paths:
The Practical Solution:
- Change reality. If the conflict is a boss who degrades you (territory conflict), quit. If it’s a neighbor dispute, move or build a fence. This is the most effective cure.
The Mental Solution:
- If reality cannot be changed (e.g., loss of a child), you must change your perception. You must reach a point of acceptance or spiritual understanding where the situation is no longer perceived as a biological threat.
Handling the Epileptoid Crisis
In the middle of the healing phase, there comes a critical point (“the crisis”) where the body briefly relives the conflict (e.g., a heart attack or seizure).
The Task:
- Here you must not panic. Panic creates new conflicts (death anxiety), which start new tumors. The therapy consists of calm, warmth, and knowledge that this is the peak of the healing mountain.
Criticism and Status

German New Medicine is probably the most controversial medical theory in recent times. The gap between supporters and the established system is total.
Scientific Isolation
Universities have consistently refused to officially test Hamer’s theories. Critics point out that the theory is unchangeable and dogmatic. Hamer allowed no deviations from his laws, which conflicts with modern science that is built on constant correction.
Doctors warn that patients die unnecessarily from simple ailments because they refuse surgery or medication in the belief that “the body heals itself.”
Cases involving children (e.g., the Olivia Pilhar case) have particularly brought GNM into disrepute. [4]
Hamer Focus: Artifacts or Evidence
Radiologists dismiss the ring-shaped structures in the brain (“Hamer Focus”) as technical errors (ring artifacts) from the scanner. [8, 9]
GNM supporters, however, maintain that these rings always appear in exactly the same place with the same diagnoses, and that they change shape (develop edema) when the patient enters healing, which technical errors should not do.
Political and Personal Opposition
Dr. Hamer mixed his medical theories with strongly anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, which has made many automatically (and understandably) reject his entire work.
This makes it difficult to separate what might be potentially brilliant observations of psychosomatics from what is ideological madness.
Important Warnings

GNM is considered by many oncologists to be the most dangerous alternative direction because it often requires total rejection of conventional help.
Brain Swelling (Edema)
The protocol carries a great risk that serious brain edema is left untreated, which is an acutely life-threatening condition.
Why:
- Hamer considered the increased pressure in the brain to be a positive healing sign that should not be medically suppressed. But untreated edema can compress the brain and lead to seizures, coma, and death.
Lack of Pain Treatment
Patients risk suffering unnecessarily or going into physical shock due to extreme, untreated pain.
Why:
- GNM discourages the use of morphine and strong painkillers, as it is believed to stop the healing process. This leaves the patient without relief in the most critical phase.
Physical Obstructions
There is acute life danger associated with mechanical obstructions of vital organs if surgery is consistently refused.
Why:
- A tumor physically fills up, regardless of whether it is in “healing.”
- Without surgical intervention, a node in the intestine (intestinal obstruction) or throat can suffocate the patient while they wait for it to break down naturally.
- Not mentioned here is the risk that a tumor may develop to become inoperable while one (possibly in vain) waits for it to disappear.
Social Isolation
The patient often ends up without necessary care and monitoring in the phase where they are most weakened.
Why:
- To avoid “negative vibrations,” the protocol encourages cutting contact with skeptical doctors and concerned relatives, which removes the safety net around the patient.
Safety
Always consult your practitioner before starting a protocol.
Conclusion

German New Medicine is not just a treatment method, but a whole new worldview. The strength of GNM is the detailed mapping of the connection between psyche and body.
For many patients, it provides enormous peace to understand that their disease is not random, but has a cause they can act on.
The weakness and danger lie in the absolute rejection of conventional medicine. Betting your entire life on being able to resolve a biological process solely through the power of thought or action is a high-stakes game, especially with rapidly growing cancers.
The approach is most relevant for those who intuitively feel that a specific shock started their disease and who want to work deeply with this cause—ideally without burning all bridges to acute medicine. [10, 12]
A Typical Day on the Protocol

Living according to GNM is not a physical cure, but a mental discipline. You monitor your body’s signals to know where you are in the process.
Morning: Check the “Weather”
You start the day by feeling your hands and measuring your temperature.
- Cold hands: You are still conflict-active. You are stressed, and the tumor is growing (if it’s old brain) or the tissue is breaking down (new brain). Your task today is to find the conflict and resolve it.
- Warm hands/fever: You are in healing (vagotonia). Congratulations. Your task is to rest and let the body clean up.
Mid-Morning: Work with the “Tracks”
You analyze your surroundings. Is there something in my everyday life that reminds me of the original trauma?
- If you feel a pang of anxiety or discomfort, write it down. This is a “track” that must be avoided or mentally neutralized so you don’t restart the disease.
Afternoon: Biological Rest
If you are in the healing phase, you are often extremely tired.
- Unlike other protocols that require exercise, GNM requires rest during this phase. The body uses all energy to repair tissue and remove edema (fluid) in the brain. You eat protein-rich food to help the reconstruction, but avoid stimulants like coffee, which artificially create stress.
Evening: Status Without Fear
You review the day’s symptoms without fear.
- Pain is not interpreted as “going downhill,” but as a sign of healing (periosteum stretching or scar tissue formation). You remove the fear of symptoms, as fear is the greatest poison in the GNM universe.
