medically it functions primarily as a unique &#8220;door opener&#8221; in the body. It increases the absorption (bioavailability) of a wide range of other substances \u2013 including Curcumin, medication, and vitamins \u2013 by up to 2000%. At the same time, it has its own ability to inhibit cancer cell growth and induce cell death [6].<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Potential in cancer:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The greatest potential lies in the ability to make other treatments more effective. It is the molecule that gives pepper its characteristic sharpness and strong taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In chemical terms, it is an organic compound that has been shown to have potent biological effects in the human body, far beyond just being a spice. While most dietary supplements work by adding nutrients themselves, Piperin stands out by changing the way the body processes other substances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">History<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Piperin has been a cornerstone in traditional medicine for thousands of years, especially within <a href=\"https:\/\/jegharkraeft.dk\/en\/ayurvedisk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ayurveda<\/a> in India. Here it is included as one third of &#8220;Trikatu&#8221;, a classic blend of black pepper, long pepper, and ginger, which is used to cleanse the body, increase digestion, and improve the absorption of other herbal medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Historically, it was intuitively known that pepper could &#8220;warm&#8221; the body and promote circulation, which we today understand as mechanisms for increased absorption. These enzymes normally function as the body&#8217;s &#8220;garbage collectors&#8221;, which quickly break down and excrete foreign substances (both medication and dietary supplements). By temporarily inhibiting these enzymes, Piperin gives other substances &#8220;free passage&#8221; to pass into the bloodstream and remain active for longer. This is the mechanism that, for example, makes <a href=\"https:\/\/jegharkraeft.dk\/en\/curcumin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Curcumin<\/a> (from turmeric) absorbed up to 2000% better (corresponding to 20 times better) when taken with Piperin [6].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Direct cellular effect<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to helping other substances, Piperin also works directly at the cellular level. It has been shown to be able to induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in abnormal cells by increasing the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) inside the cancer cell, which stresses it to the point of shutting down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mitochondrial effect<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Piperin appears to be able to affect the mitochondria (the cell&#8217;s power plant). The potential is therefore dual and very comprehensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overcoming multidrug resistance (MDR)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the biggest challenges in cancer treatment is that tumors often develop resistance to chemotherapy. They simply pump the cytotoxic agent out again via transport proteins (such as P-glycoprotein). Since Piperin effectively inhibits precisely this protein, it has the potential to restore the cancer cells&#8217; sensitivity to the treatment. This theoretically means that chemotherapy can work better, or that one can achieve effect at lower doses, which reduces side effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Synergy with natural substances<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many potent natural cancer inhibitors, such as Curcumin, Resveratrol, and EGCG (from green tea), are unfortunately broken down very quickly in the body. Piperin functions here as the key that unlocks their potential. Without Piperin, most of these substances are excreted, meaning they remain ineffective. With Piperin, one achieves concentrations in the blood that can actually have a therapeutic effect on tumors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inhibition of spread<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recent research suggests that Piperin can inhibit angiogenesis &#8211; the formation of new blood vessels that tumors need to grow.
